Faith, Healing, and Medicine - Talkback Time

There were several insights shared by the congregation after today's sermon.

1. One parishioner shared how she truly believed in the healing power of Christ. Along with a personal example, she shared the Scripture verse from John 14:12. In reference to the healing miracles that his disciples were amazed at, he said "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."
What do you think about Christ's power to heal? What do you think about believers being able to heal?

2. Another congregant shared that one of her loved ones was going in for surgery to have a kidney stone removed. The night before a friend laid hands on the patient and prayed to remove the stone that night. Before surgery, they took one more X-ray and found the stone to be gone. What is your reaction to this and other stories like these?

3. In the first video clip, a scientist claimed that there are more neurons on the brain than stars in the galaxy. What is your reaction to such a statement? What does this say about the potential of the mind?

4. There was discussion about the practice of more wholistic medicine, where not only are drugs used to treat an illness, but also other factors. Things like diet, exercise, sleep, prayer, etc are monitored and regulated to help heal. What were your experiences with wholistic medicine? What do you think about using drugs to heal? How is prayer a factor in healing?
