A Word from Alan

Hi everyone! It has been a very long three weeks. I went in for a routine test (ERCP) on September 26th after conducting a graveside service. I was expected to be home that same evening. Instead, complications put my life at risk on two occasions. I am grateful to be still be here. Hopefully there are no long term damage.

I was able come home on Wednesday. I am still hooked up to four IVs. I have home health care through the hospital, although Rhonda does much of my care. I am not able to take anything by mouth for another two weeks. The infections are currently responding. The doctors will repeat the CT Scan on Monday afternoon to confirm this progress.

I don't have much energy, but generally feel "fairly" good. I really miss eating and drinking! I am so very grateful for all the prayers, cards, flowers, cards, visits, and expressions of love. I miss seeing you and sharing in your lives. Please know you are in my prayers.

Grace and peace,

Alan

  1. Alan,
So good to hear from you! Anna is splendid in Bible study but we really want you back! It's great to have you both there together.
Isn't this blog the best?! Hooray for the "New Kid" aka Anna to get it set up! You are continually in our prayers. Feeling good is good. Am praying for increasing strength to return to you daily.

  2. Alan - so good to see you in worship today! I'm sure you were exhausted the rest of the day, but I hope it was helpful for you to be able to be out and see everyone. I know it was really encouraging for people in the congregation to see you up and about.
    Take care,
    Anna

  3. I agree with Anna. It was wonderful to see you up and about. I know that being in a hospital (I've seen a few this year) is a total bummer. The fresh fall air, the colors of the leaves this year always make me want to cry - God really loves us. He created all for us. Enjoy the beauty, the rustle of leaves, the smiles on Rhonda now that you are home. Hope all goes well tomorrow with the CT. The kids got back to school all safe and sound. God is good. Love you, Jenny

  4. Anna - I know I told you this morning, but I want to tell you again (it takes people more than once hearing something) You are doing a wonderful job and I appreciate you. Get some rest when you can! OO Jenny

  5. Alan,
I am happy that the tests were positive and sorry about the upset tummy. Hope you continue to improve and that soon you will be back to your cheerful self. God bless you. Donna Pal
