This Sunday in worship, we gave people a moment to write down a few short "I believe" statements. We then compiled them into "Our Common Credo" and recited it together at the end of the service. Below is the text of "Our Common Credo".
I believe that God is at work in my life .
I know that God has provided me with “faith”. Faith gives me peace to know that everything will always be ok.
I believe the assurance of our salvation is absolute.
I believe we are put on earth to be God’s hands in the world and to ease each other’s journey.
We are all beloved children of God.
God is universal. Music is the universal language.
Humor is God’s gift to us to get through all of life’s trials.
Our place in our galaxy is not chance, but designed.
I believe in God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit.
I do not have to be perfect and He takes me as I am.
I believe that the majesty of God is present in each life.
I believe that the best gift we give ourselves is service to others.
I believe that we are most like Jesus when we are smiling at the charms of a child.
I believe that we feel most forgiven ourselves when we forgive each other.
I believe the Church, God’s people who follow Jesus, is needed more in these times than perhaps ever before and that God longs for us to draw closer to her.
I believe God is all powerful and He is in charge.
God forgives all even though we often have difficulty forgiving ourselves.
God loves us just the way we are even if we are unlovable.
I believe I am a beloved child of God.
I have been blessed, cared for, loved, cried with/laughed with and protected by God; that God and His family are my responsibility to be in relationship with.
I believe God created all and His wish is for us to love one another and this will be the basis of our judgment.
I believe God intends for us to use our gifts to reflect His glory.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and that He is coming again to take all believers home in Heaven with Him. I believe all suffering will be gone and I will be united with my family and friends.
I believe the Holy Spirit, if we are open to it, shows each of us how we can contribute to a new and better world, a world that is closer to the one Jesus asks us to create.
I would not be here today if God had interceded in my life and shown me different, right path and given new meaning to life, love, family.
I believe God answers prayer, sometimes not the way I want.
I believe God forgives my sins.
I believe that family over all is most important element with God as the head of that family. Without the head, a family will not function.
I believe in the innate goodness of man which reflects God. God is love. Despite all the evidences on earth of the opposite, it is that presence of good that makes me believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
In Christ alone is salvation through he shed blood. Through God’s active involvement in an individual’s life alone can true meaning, purpose, direction for life and peace in its outcome. Without Him, all is vain labor.
I believe that God sent ancestors, prophets, people who believe, Jesus Christ, disciples, teachers, leaders. Jesus taught us to believe, have faith, care for others and for ourselves.
I believe God is unjudgmental and loves us as we are and accepts us as we are.
I believe God is there for us during good times and bad times.
I believe God will be present and will guide me in making decisions.
I believe people are good and when they see someone hurt or in need, will help.
I believe knowing God is in the questions more than in the answers.
I believe knowing God is a journey, but the destination is unknown.
I believe God is love and that all are His children.
I believe Jesus Christ gave us the perfect example of how to live, and most of us fall short of His example.
I believe forgiveness is the greatest gift of all.
I believe that if you have faith, all is possible.
I believe Jesus if our friend –someone we can pray to, share our fears and concerns with.
I believe that God is the supreme master of the universe.
I believe God’s Word is truth and its application important for living a healthy, abundant and fulfilling life.
God loves us.
I believe life is a gift given by God.
I believe love is stronger than hate.
I believe on must choose life or death, blessing or curse; if one looks for evil you will find it; if you look for grace you will find it.
I believe through prayer life is seen more clearly.
I am blessed in many and bountiful ways.
I believe in grace.
I believe in the 10 commandments and try to honor all of them.
I believe in humility.
I believe in the absolute dignity of all people.
I believe our sins are forgiven if we ask.
I believe there are many paths to God; that no one religion or denomination has exclusive right to that.
I believe sometimes we do the wrong things for the right reasons.
I believe Jesus Christ is my Savior; He is Savior of the world and we need his help.
Amen.
