Latest developments!

The doctors have carefully evaluated all of my CT scans (I think there have been 5). They concluded that there has been significant improvement. There are still two pockets of fluid surrounded by inflammation. Hopefully, these should slowly be absorbed over several months.

I have blood work done on Mondays and Thursdays. If next Monday's test is normal, the doctor will change my diet from clear liquids and IV nutrition to full liquids and IV nutrition next Wednesday. Then if I tolerate that diet for a week, they plan on slowly decreasing the IV nutrition until I am only being fed through the full liquids. They expect that would occur sometime in mid-November. They hope that I may be able to eat real food sometime around Thanksgiving. I will have at least 1 IV until I have successfully transitioned to normal food. If this schedule is maintained I would be w/o normal food for 8-9 weeks. I certainly didn't anticipate this journey when I went in for that test on September 26!

We are told in scripture that life is fragile and we should live each day as a gift. Having been close to death at two points during this journey, I want to encourage you to live fully this day! None of us have any idea what the future holds, today is God's gift. Claim it and live it well.

  2. Alan - so sorry to hear of your health issues but thankful to see that you are on the mend. You have taken the hard way to lose weight and lower your cholesterol!!! Yikes!

I just reconnected with Chris and Kellie on Facebook....so good to see photos of them and know that they are well and happy.

Will keep in touch and will be praying for good health for you.
    Blessings,
    Carol

  3. For the past few years, visiting Mom, I always wanted to just enjoy her and treat my visits as potentially the last time I'd see her. Well, that happened for me this year. We do never know what tomorrow, or really even today will bring. We need to discard the unimportant things in our lives. Like Mary and Martha. When Jesus was "gone" - I wonder if Martha realized what she missed being busy with the things of the day. I am glad you are doing so much better. That is an answer to prayer. Love you, Jenny

  5. Alan and all---so sorry and surprised to hear of your health problems. Also sorry we have not known earlier so you could have been in our daily prayers. Please know that you are at the top of the list now.
We love you all and hope your health is soon improved and your life can return to "normal"--whatever that is!
    My love and concern-
